How this calculator builds your price
Labor = hours × rate. Materials = cost × (1 + markup). Subtotal = labor + materials. Overhead is applied to subtotal as a percentage. Profit margin is then layered on top of (subtotal + overhead) to give the final quote.
The most common mistake is layering profit margin only on labor or only on materials. Apply it to the full cost — overhead included — or you're underpricing on materials-heavy jobs.
